  1. In a word: Depressing. Self-Indulgent also comes to mind. The main characters are all self-righteous and internally ugly; all of them. And yet somehow we’re supposed to find common ground with them, as if this is some magnifying glass into typical urban life. If this is a movie you can relate to, man do I truly feel sorry for you. The acting is good, but the story line is just dreary as all get out. The family is just this group of selfish, selfish people that are asking us to just please understand them, even laugh at the wacky situations they’ve found themselves in. Yeah, not me. It wouldn’t have been so bad if it didn’t try so hard to relate to the audience, but was instead merely a mopey drama with no attempt at “lightening the mood” with humor. *Not that I would have liked the premise any more or less, but I’d have had more respect for it as a film.

  3. Great movie!! Jenny Slate is so good and natural at acting!! Loved it❤️

  4. Not all the funny.. I didn’t laugh at all but it was still an interesting watch.

  5. I liked this because I am a huge fan of John Turturro and the other actors in the film were good. Edie Falco’s talent was a little wasted but overall good flick. Turturro certainly deserves more leading roles.

  6. Good story and really good acting by all the cast.

  7. I Wish it went into more detail about the mom, but I simply loved the whole movie!

  8. Maybe it was good but before long, I couldn’t stand it

  9. It really doesn’t matter how good your actors are if the story sucks.
